RESOLUTION NO. 237 07
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF A "E
SERIES ACLS" DEFIBRILLATOR ,RECHARGEABLE LITHIUM ION BATTERY
PACK ,PEDIATRIC BLOOD PRESSURE CUFF, LARGE ADULT BLOOD PRESSURE
CUFF AND IN-SERVICE TRAINING COMPACT DISC FROM THE OCEAN VIEW
COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION TO THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Community Association ("Association") recognizes the
need for improved emergency medical services for the Ocean View community, and wishes to
assist the Hawaii Fire Department ("Fire Department") in providing such services to this remote
geographic area; and
WHEREAS, the Association has purchased a new Zoll "E-Series ACLS" Defibrillator,
product number 5-0201-7300-1012-4013, along with a "E-Series Sure Power" Rechargeable
Lithium Ion Battery Pack, product number 8019-0535-O1, Pediatric Blood Pressure Cuff, product
number 8000-1650, Large Adult Blood Pressure Cuff, product number 8000-1653, and
In-service Training Compact Disc, product number 9658-0502-O1, (herein after "medical
equipment") with a total estimated value of $19,640.30; and
WHEREAS, the Association desires to donate the medical equipment to the Fire
Department, to be assigned to the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates fire station, to be used on the
2005 Ford F363 ambulance -previously donated to the County, by the Association, as set forth
under Resolution No. 444-06, adopted on September 7, 2006 - in order to provide additional life
saving emergency medical services to the Ocean View geographic region; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that
the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County
Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this medical equipment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Mr. Bruce Coates, President, Ocean View Community Association, P.O.
Box 6016, Ocean View, Hawaii 96737, acknowledging this generous donation.
