Re: Donation to the Hawaii Fire Department
The Ocean View Community Association recognizes the need for improved emergency
medical services for the Ocean View community and wishes to assist the Hawaii Fire
Department in providing such services to this remote geographic area. Having already
donated an ambulance in 2006, the Ocean View Community Association has purchased a
new Zoll "E-Series ACLS" Defibrillator along with a "E-Series Sure Power" Rechargeable
Lithium Ion Battery Pack, Blood Pressure Cuffs, and an In-service Training Compact Disc
and wishes to donate it to the Hawaii Fire Department. The equipment, with a total
estimated value of $19,640.30, will be assigned to the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates fire
station and used on the previously donated ambulance.
Enclosed is a resolution accepting the donation of the defibrillator and related accessories
from the Ocean View Community Association, P.O. Box 6016, Ocean View, Hawaii 96737.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare a resolution for the Hawaii County Council, on behalf of the County of Hawaii, to accept a donation
of medical equipment (listed below) valued at $19,640, from the Ocean View Community Association.
Please send a copy of the resolution and letter acknowledging this donation to: Mr. Bruce Coates,
President, Ocean View Community Association, P.O. Box 6016, Ocean View, Hawaii 96737.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Ocean View Community Association, in recognition of the need for improved emergency medical
services for the Ocean View Community, and in its desire to assist the Hawaii Fire Department in providing
such service to this remote geographical area, has purchased and donated medical equipment to be
assigned to the ambulance providing emergency medical services (EMS) to the area. This ambulance is
based at the Hawaiian Ocean View Fire Station, and is the 2005 Ford F363 ambulance previously donated
to the County, as set forth in Resolution No. 444-06, adopted 9/7/07.
The present donation consists of a new Zoll "E-Series ACLS" Defibrillator, product #5-0201-7300-1012-4013,
along with a "E-Series Sure Power" Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery Pack, product#8019-0535-01,
Pediatric Blood Pressure Cuff, product #8000-1650, Large Adult Blood Pressure Cuff, product #8000-1653,
and In-Service Training Compact Disc, product #9658-0502-01, with a total estimated value of $19,640.30.
