Re: Bill 55 -Ordinance to Establish the Kailua Village Business Improvement District
To all members of the County Council ofthe County of Hawaii,
As the Property Management entity representing the leasehold owners of North Kana Shopping Center, located at
74-5629 Kuakini Highway, we are enthusiastically supporting the establishment of a Kailua Ullage Business
Improvement District.
We firmly believe the establishment of a Business Improvement District will improve the overall image, appearance,
and quality of life within Kailua Village. The proposed Bill 55 will provide businesses, residents, visitors and
employees of Kailua Village with a clean, safe and enjoyable environment in which to live, work, play and invest.
The rapid growth of drug activity and the homeless population has lead to an increase in theft, and consequently
more crime in Kailua Town. Much of which we have experienced first hand at our property. Supplemental security
provided by Hawaii County Police Department with trained Information & Safety Officers is an essential provision of
Bill 55.
Not only does Bill 55 bring safety to our community but it improves the overall beauty of the area. We are very
excited about the special projects planned such as enhanced streetscape, landscape, signage, lighting, pedestrian
pathways and surfaces.
Bill 55 will lead to a better way of life for every one that lives, visits or works on the Big Island. The future of Hawaii
depends on progress and moving forward and Bill 55 ensures a safer, cleaner more productive future for everyone.
Please vote yes on Bill 55.
