Re: Bill 55, Draft2, Kailua Village Business Improvement District No.1
Dear Chairman Hoffmann,
I strongly urge you to support the establishment of the Kailua Village Business Improvement
District No. i. for the future betterment of this community.
Over the decades we have witnessed first-hand the deterioration, graffiti, neglect and crime
ridden area that is our beloved historical Kailua Village.
Today, concierges along the Kohala Goast routinely tell their guests not to visit Kailua Village due
to high crime and unattractiveness. This is not good economic husiness and our visitor industry
needs.
I have seen first hand, the success of the Waikiki Business Improvement District and the Fort
Street Mall Business Improvement District on Oahu. Kailua Village Business Improvement District
could be the next success story.
Through this legal mechanism the private and public sector will work in concert to improve and
Maintain the physical appearance and aesthetics of public right of ways, increased cleanliness and
security.
Now is the time, we have the opportunity to do something positive for our community and to set
an example for other to follow.
Please support Bill 55, Draft 2.
