In April 2007, Council member Dominic Yagong generously transferred contingency funds of $40,000, to purchase building materials to construct a staff storage unit and a community storage unit at the Honoka'a County Park Complex; $7,000 to provide fencing materials for the Honomu Park Baseball Field; and $2,000 to purchase building materials to construct a covering for bleachers at Kula'imano Park; into the Recreation Division's OCE account. However, the Recreation Division has been unable to purchase the necessary materials for the construction of the storage facilities as plans are still pending for this project. The transfer to the Capital Project Fund, more specifically for the Park Improvement Projects -Council District I account, will allow the department to complete the purchase of materials and the construction of the storage facilities in the upcoming fiscal year. Because the funds need to be appropriated before the June 30, 2007 lapsing date, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting a waiver from the Finance Committee and have this resolution heard at the next Council meeting scheduled for June 20, 2007. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Department of Parks and Recreation. V V~ William Taka Director of Finance APPROVED: C'~~~-~? y Harry Kim Mayor Comm. No. Enc. Ref.
