A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO
A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the October 15, 2006 earthquakes caused substantial damage to Hisaoka
Gym in North Kohala, rendering this county facility unsafe for occupation until major repairs
can be completed; and
WHEREAS, members of the North Kohala community have been using the Kohala
Cultural Center gym facilities in Hawi as an alternative to Hisaoka Gym on an interim basis,
until repairs can be made to the County facility; and
WHEREAS, improvements to the Kohala Cultural Center parking lot and restroom
facilities are needed to accommodate the expanded public use of these facilities in the
aftermath of the earthquake; and
WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 9, in combination with funds
provided by the community, will be appropriated to the Office of Management to be used to
fund the necessary improvements to the Kohala Cultural Center facilities to accommodate the
public until earthquake related damage at Hisaoka Gym can be mitigated; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Honorable Hany Kim and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
