I write in strong support of Resolution 169-07, The Keolalani Hanoa Resolution. I am a
recently graduated college student from the University of MN who attended a study abroad
course on the Big Island.
I visited the Ka'u district and Punalu'u and here met many good friends and saw places
that changed my outlook on both native Hawaiians and mainlanders. To develop this area
any further stands to further damage the ability for both hawaiians and mainlanders to
enjoy an undeveloped beach with friends and family. If Ka'u becomes developed in this
way, like other areas in Kona and on Oahu I will not plan a return visit and will pray
that my friends there will find a better place to live with a community and council
members that fully support them.
