Subject: Duituturaga, 6/14/07 =Regarding Punalu'u
The big island is the last of all the islands to be developed. Please consider my voice to the many to say go slowly on Punalu'u. 1
know the people of Ka'u need jobs and services, however Punalu'u can be selectivly developed. The council is well known for
protecting what is done in Hawaii. You wouldn't let me put in a work out room on my property in Volcano which the community
wanted, so that they would not have to drive all the way down to Hilo to keep fit. Unfortunatly, gas prices went over $3. a gal and
Hwy 11 needs widening due to more traffic. You kept the jitneys from running so that the taxi business could still charge
outrageous prices to the visitors. Now I see so many boat tourists walking along the highway to town. It keeps them fit and gives
them a chance to view our lovely landscape. You drove a developer from putting in a new restaurant on front street. He's given
up and gone back to Maui. So please do good by Punalu'u. Services, yes, improvements, yes, large scale development, no.
