Subject: Fillmore, 6/14/07 = We Support 169-07!
Dear Council Members,
We strongly support resolution 169-07. Hawaii does not need to give away one of it's
great natural and cultural resources for the enjoyment of a few... in exchange for a
handful of minimum wage jobs in the service industry. The real profits will only go back
to shareholders on the mainland. Meanwhile, development of Punalu'u
will only drive up property taxes and drive out local residents.
This is nothing more than gentrification. This would be an incredibly disastrous and
short-sighted decision. There is enough development on the Kona side of the island. What
would we do, turn the entire island of Hawaii into a strip mall? Do that, and then see
who comes to visit! This is a time for sane decision-making. Please adopt Resolution
169-07, for us and for future generations.
Sincerely,
Nicholas Fillmore
