Subject: Holmgren, 6/14/07 = Hawaii County Resolution 169-07
Dear Council Members,
Please accept this e mail as proof of my support of Hawaii County Resolution 169-07 that
will protect critical habitat and sacred sites at Punalu~u one of the last beaches in
Hawaii not developed into a massive luxury housing development and resort. I do not live
in Hawaii, but as a prospective tourist I would like to think that I may travel there and
hope to see some areas yet untouched by the ravages of highrises built by greedy
developers. It is insanity to trade your priceless indigenous ecosystems, habitats,
people, and lands for a pocket full of dollars, parking lots, hotels, and an environment
that will be destroyed forever. Please listen to the people on this issue. It is
incredibly important to preserve the natural wonders of your island. Money comes and
goes. Land is in short supply and once you destroy it there will be no more new land
popping up to be developed. Please think of the needs of your people before voting on
this crucial issue. The world is watching and I hope you'll do the right thing for your
people and indigenous lands and preseve the natural habitats of Hawaii for future
generations to understand what makes Hawaii so incredible and to resist the temptations of
the developers for personal gain.
Thank you for your consideration,
Sincerely,
Joseph Holmgren
