Dear Council Members: I would like to voice my support of Resolution 169-07 and support of the people's effort
there to counteract the attempt to develop one of the few remaining open places in Hawaii - "the last great open
space". Although I do not live there, I have visited your beautiful island and have seen the beauty of the black
sand beach and appreciated the fact that it was a public place where locals and visitors- all people -could share
equally in the beauty of the environment.
Although I now live in Flagstaff, Arizona, I was a resident of Alaska for over 20 years and do understand and
appreciate the need to maintain pristine areas free of development. I would rather pitch a tent somwhere
than live, rent or visit a hotel or housing development there in that beautiful place - to the detriment of the local
people as well as the legacy of future generations to enjoy the Punalu' u. Expensive developments have their
place and rationale for existing, but at what price to pay for the last great open space of Hawaii?
Please support the Resolution 169-07.
