Deaz Hawaii County Council Members,
There aze not many times that I can recall when I have taken time to email an elected official in support of a cause, but
this case is different. I visited Punalu'u back in January of'2005 for my first time.
When I visited Punalu'u is with through a study abroad opportunity being offered through the University of Minnesota
Duluth but I currently reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On my trip to Hawaii I was able to visit 3 of the Hawaiian
islands and see both developed Hawaii and undeveloped Hawaii. I heard many stories over the two and a half weeks that
I was there. The people of Pahala especially touched my heart. I was able to see the effects of commercialization first
hand and I want to urge you to NOT let the development of this land proceed. Punalu'u has something special that is
becoming hazder and harder to find. Do you really want to lose the culture and history of the Hawaiian people to condos
and shopping malls? Please support Resolution 169-07.
Sincerely,
Dan Sanford
