Dear Mr. Tuttle:
Thank you for your letter dated January 13, 1998, expressing your opinion and clarification of
the content of the January 5, 1998 letter from an anonymous resident in Volcano to me,
concerning the lack of enforcement in the Bed and Breakfast industry. By a copy of this letter,
your January 13, 1998 letter will be forwarded to the Mayor, County Council, Planning
Commission and County Building Department for their information.

Dear Ms. Goldstein,
Late this afternoon, I received a copy of a letter dated January S, 1998, addressed to you with
copies send to various county officials, including the Mayor and mailed or faxed
anonymously.
I am concerned to see my name within the content of this complaint I do not endorse,
condone or know who wrote this upsetting letter. The information is also inaccurate. In a
letter from the Planning Commission, dated 25 November, 1998, I received approval for my
units at Hale Ohia Cottages.
As a businessman, I believe in the free enterprise system, competition, less regulations,
honesty and integrity, and while this angry resident may have thought they were doing me a
favor, I wished they had asked to use my name and endorsement, because the answer would
have been no.
