Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 222-07, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 222-07, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 442, dated May 17, 2007, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Surety Kohala
Corporation.
Surety Kohala Corporation would like to donate a 0.379 acre pazcel of land adjacent to the
Kamehemeha Pazk in Kohala, being Tax Map Key (3) 5-4-009:023 (por), to the County of
Hawaii. The outdoor basketball court will be constructed as a community project through the
Depaztment of Parks and Recreation. Additional courts will be added as needed to fulfill the
recreational needs of the Kohala community.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Chazter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of real property.
A letter of appreciation and a copy the resolution will be sent to the Surety Kohala Corporation,
P. O. Box 249, Haws, Hawaii 96719, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 222-07
and recommends its adoption.
