To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Kelsey Koerselman. I am a student at the University of Minnesota in Duluth. I am writing in regards to Hawaii County
Resolution 169-07. I recently traveled to Hawaii for a course in Intercultural Communication. While there we stayed in Pahala and
were privilege to seeing the beautiful black sand beach and the areas surrounding. The people that we stayed with and the
experiences we had in that area were unforgettable. We were embraced by the culture of that area and were astounded by its
beauty.
While in the district of Ka'u, I was informed of the possible plans for development around the area. It broke my heart to think of the
negative impact it would have on our friends that we had made. Though these names do not necessarily have faces to whoever is
reading this, these are the people that opened their homes and their hearts and their ways of life to our group and allowed us to
experience the beauty of the Hawaiian culture. For Steve, Phina, Li'I, Pali, Guy, Sunny, Demitirs, Sam, Mona, Pele, and many more,
I ask you to please vote in favor for the Hawaii County Resolution 169-07. To think that the children of these people named will not
be able to experience the land as their parents and grandparents did would be a complete tragedy.
Please vote in favor of Hawaii County Resolution 169-07 and save Punalu'u near Pahala, in the district of Ka'u.
