L~ i <br /> n ~J~, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII s• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> r~ oi~Mi'/ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 245 O'7 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br /> <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY <br /> GENERAL, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A SECURE DIGITAL FORENSIC <br /> IMAGING GRANT FOR THE HAWAI`i COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention and <br /> Justice Assistance Division has authorized funding towards the Hawaii County Police Department's <br /> Secure Digital Forensic Imaging Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the goal of this project is to improve Hawaii County's ability to respond to violent <br /> crimes against women and to improve forensic examination services provided to female victims of <br /> violent crimes island wide by acquiring the technologically advanced Secure Digital Forensic Imaging <br /> (SDFI) systems; and <br /> WHEREAS, the SDFI system, a forensic tool designed to enhance text based and picture <br /> based documentation, will be used by the Sex Assault Forensic Examiners (SAFE); and <br /> WHEREAS, the SDFI systems will be placed in the SAFE examination rooms in East and in <br /> West Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds provided by the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General are <br /> derived from grants provided by the federal government; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain <br /> the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting <br /> action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any <br /> funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers. <br /> <br />
