WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund has presented a monetary gift of ten
thousand nine hundred fifty-six dollars ($10,956) to the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to purchase new flight helmets, equipped with
communication devices, for the pilots of the rescue helicopter (based at Waiakea Station) and the
pilots of the rescue/aeromedical helicopter pilots (based at S. Kohala Station); and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or real estate or any interest in real estate.
NOW, THEREFORE, ~I~ IT RESOLVED ~Y THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the Hawaii
Fire Department is authorized to accept this monetary gift of ten thousand nine hundred fifty-six
dollars ($10,956) from the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund.
~E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be
sent to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund, c/o Ms. Kalei Stern, Director of Donor Services,
Hawaii Community Foundation, 1164 Sishop Street, Suite 800, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813,
acknowledging this generous donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall also forvvard copies of this
resolution to the Hawaii Fire Department and the Department of Finance.
