The funds are designated to purchase new flight helmets, equipped with communication devices, for the pilots of the rescue helicopter (based at Waiakea Station) and the pilots of the rescue/aeromedical helicopter pilots (based at S. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund was established by Dr. Frank and Laura Sayre in memory of their son, Daniel who lost his life in a tragic accident in Pololu Valley. The Fund annually recognizes the bravery of the Hawaii County Fire Rescue squads and provides monetary support to purchase need rescue equipment for the department. The Hawaii Community Foundation functions as a steward for the Fund, and will forward correspondences to the donors.
