To the County Council of Hawaii:
By way of this message, I am urging passage of Resolution 169-07, which would allow negotions with Sea
Mountain property to purchase coastal areas of Punaluu, Ninole and adjacent lands for a public county park.
I understand that the existing privately owned coastal properties would not be included in this land purchase.
However, the county purchase of land that it alreads rents, plus the acquisition of adjacent Sea Mountain
property, will provide public access and fishing rights, as well as protect the shoreline, sacred sites, and
endangered sea turtles.
This land prchase is necessary to preserve the precious seacoast area for future generations of Big Island
families, and protect the natural environment. It will not jeopardize develoment in other areas of Kau.
Therefore, I urge passage of Resolution 169-07.
