County Council,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the right steps to preserving the local life and beauty I .
witnessed while studying in Hawaii two years ago. Your decision to enter into negotiations to purchase Punalu'u
and surrounding areas from the developer shows your passion and compassion for the local culture rich in that
area. I applaud your efforts to fight back against the ever growing phenomena of priveldged people plowing down
local communities and taking people from their homes, to mass produce condos and hotels for people whom
already have homes and communities of their own. I hope to one day take my husband and my children to the
place that came to mean so much to me. I want them to meet the people I met, feel the black sand that I felt and
look over the beautiful land untouched by wrporate America that I looked over and that I still dream about to this
day. Your decision greatly increases the the chance of my children one day having that experience, but more
importantly increases the chances of the local children to share those experiences with generations to come.
