Distinguished Council Members
I would like to Thank You for voting to support the purchase of Punalu'u. I am from Minnesota and had.
the pleasure of visiting your beautiful land 4 years ago through the University of Minnesota -Duluth.
While in Hawaii Punalu'u was by far my favorite place because of the thick Hawaiian culture. The
people that I met there changed my life, never before did I realize how important heritage, family,
culture, and land were to having a meaningful life. My family are fanners here in Minnesota and I have
always had a lot of respect for the land, but it is a much different thing when you think about someone
coming in and developing it. I can't imagine someone trying to buy my families farm and develop it! I
am very impressed that you all could see how important culture is and didn't take the easy way out and
let the developer come in. It takes much more strength and power to keep them out, especially when
they promise a lot of money. Thank you for realizing this is worth so much more than money.
I truely look forward to bringing my family back to Punalu'u someday so they can experience the
Hawaiian spirit I love so much.
