Dear Mayor Kim,
Thank you for your testimony in support of the Ka'u community. I am very
thankful that the Council did not delay and went on to vote to support Resolution 169-07.
This will be the beginning of the healing process. Now, would be a perfect time to send
in a facilitator to work with the community to organize a new non-profit to malama
Punalu'u. This is a critical step that was taken by members of the community who went
on to become Ka Ohana O Honu'apo. When people work together for a common goal,
wounds heal. Mahalo for your support in preserving the Punalu'u to Ninole shoreline.
I am very much interested in working on this project as a volunteer to organize
the non-profit, help raise money, and maintain the land. I know there are members of
both O Ka'u Kakou and Ka'u Preservation that share similar visions for Punalu'u and
will be able to work together on this. I will be off-island for the next two weeks, but
would love to be of assistance once I return July 24th.
