I believe everyone no matter which side of this debate they are on realizes that the choices we have are not going to give us what we want. A choice made now no matter which one will drive a wedge within the community that will last along time and will be very hard to over come. We need to compromise and make concessions on all sides. I believe there is a way that all parties can get what the wish to fundamentally see happen at Punalu u come to fruition. The hazd liners on all three sides must yield. (Ka'u Preservation, O Ka'u Kakou, and Sea Mountain five) No one will benefit if we lose Punalu u to an unsustainable development that does not fit into and blend with the raw rugged beauty of the Ka'u district. I have taken the liberty of using Councilman Jacobson's map to put forth a proposal that I think might palatable to all sides even though it may not be their favorite food. I have included the maps with notes of explanation. I would be more than willing to assist you if you think I could help in fleshing this out. Respectfully, ~ ~~~v ~ / John Replogle /pV~!/ cc Councilman ominic Yagong Chairman, Committee on Finance, Councilman Robert Jacobson comm. Pio. 3 R~f~ To: Rif.
