COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO. 262 O'7
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $500 TO THE
HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Wal-Mart Hilo, as part of their "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, has donated $500 to
the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this donation will be used by the department to establish and operate its Explorer program,
designed to educate young men and women in fire science, and expose them to the various HFD functions,
including Fire Prevention and Fire Suppression, Rescue, Hazmat, and Emergency Medical Services; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts the $500.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Mr.
Terrance Crowley, Manager, Wal-Mart Hilo, 325 E. Maka'ala Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this
generous donation.
