Re: Hawaii Fire Department Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $500 from Wal-Mart Hilo, 325 E.
Maka'ala Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720. These funds, donated as part of Wal-Mart Hilo's
"Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, will be used by the Hawaii Fire Department to
establish and operate its Explorer program. The Explorer program is a co-educational,
young-adult program developed and supervised by local community organizations,
providing an opportunity for young adults to explore a particular career field. The Hawaii
Fire Department's Explorer program is designed to educate young men and women in fire
science, and expose them to the various HFD functions, including Fire Prevention and Fire
Suppression, Rescue, Hazmat, and Emergency Medical Services.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the
$500 monetary donation into the Fire Department's Fire Prevention OCE account.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawaii Fire Department.
