Re: Donation to the Hawaii County Police Department
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $5,700 from the employees
of Metzler Contracting Co. LLC, P.O. Box 617,Kapa'au, Hawaii 96755. These funds, to
be distributed equally to the districts of North Kohala, South Kohala, and North Kona,
are to be used for community-oriented events administered or sponsored by the Hawaii
County Police Department.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
$1,900 into each of the Police Department's Kohala, Waimea, and Kona OCE
accounts.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawaii County Police
Department.

Request Council approval to accept and acknowledge donation of $5,700.00 from employees of Metzler
Contracting Co. LLC.
Request appropriation of expenditure of above funds to following accounts:

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
As stated in the attached letter from Metzler Contracting Co. LLC, these funds are to be used for community-
oriented events administered or sponsored by the Police Department in the districts of North Kohala, South
Kohala and North Kona.

Dear Chief Mahuna,
Thank you Eor your letter dated April 12, 2007, regarding community-oriented event funding. The
employees of our company would like make a modest donation at this time and hope to make this-
an annual event for the benefit of the ccmmunitics in which we live, work and play.
The details of this year's donation axe as follows:
1. Donation amount for 2007 is $5,700.
2. All tnonics shall be distributed equally behveen the North Kohala, South Kohala, and North
Kona Police Departments; $1,900 each.
3. All monies shall be utilized for community-oriented events administered of sponsored by the
Pohcc Departments of the three named districts.
4. Each of the three districts shall be responsible fox directing the funds and administering the
event(s) as they deem appropriate, in their sole discretion and judgement, with the expressed
goal being the creation of a safer and more crime free environment in each of the three named
districts and/or the Island of Flawaii.
