Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the Hawaii County Veterans Advisory
Commission:
CAMP TARAWA DETACHMENT #1255, -Norman S. Stahl of Hilo is a six-year resident of
Hawaii. Since 2001, he has been employed by the University of Hawail at Hilo as the Director of
the Career Center. From 1991 to 2001, he was a counselor supervisor at UCLA. Mr. Stahl is a
member of Camp Tarawa Detachment, #1255, Marine Corps League, and a member of the Big
Island Retired Military Association (BIRMA). He states that he is a Republican. If confirmed, Mr.
Stahl will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2012.
VFW -John R. Young of Puna was a member of the United States Marine Corp from 1965 until
his retirement in 1976. He presently volunteers with the Hawaii Island United Way. Mr. Young
states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire
on December 31, 2011.
