No. 504/Bill No. 121 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Ben Franklin Bldg., 2nd Floor <br /> 333 Kilauea Avenue <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> TIME: 8:30 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works & Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred Bill No. 121, <br /> reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 121, transmitted by Director Bruce McClure, Department of Public Works ,via Communication <br /> <br /> No. 504, dated June 27, 2007, amends Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 2, Moving <br /> Vehicles, Section 24-265, Schedule 12, Yield locations under (c) South Hilo be amended by adding new item <br /> as follows: <br /> SECTION 1. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 2, Section 24-265, Schedule 13 (Yield locations), <br /> subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code, 1983 (2005 Edition), is amended by adding the <br /> following, to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows: <br /> Kilauea Avenue, north bound, at Bridge No. 22-7, approaching <br /> Haihai Street. <br /> Mr. Ron Thiel, Director, Traffic Division, stated that this proposed measure was based upon safety for the <br /> public. Your Committee expressed concerns in regards to a one-lane bridge being utilized by motorists as a <br /> two-lane bridge. Also expressed was the concern in educating the public of the change in yielding to <br /> oncoming traffic proposal.
