Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 249-07, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 249-07, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 120 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 503, dated June 26, 2007, authorizes the Office of the
Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General,
Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division for an Equipped to Do Battle Against
Domestic Violence grant.
The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division has authorized a $2,576 grant to the Police Department for an Equipped to
Do Battle Against Domestic Violence to improve the department's ability to effectively
investigate cases involving violent crimes against women by obtaining equipment which will aid
in the successful prosecution of offenders.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 249-07,
and recommends its adoption.
