SUBJECT: UH Medical School and Bay Clinic presentations
I am writing to respectfully request that, on Oct. 2 in the Human Services and Economic
Development Committee meeting, representatives from both the UH Medical School and the
Bay Clinic offer presentations. Dr. Neal Palafox, who chairs the UH Medical School's
Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, will brief the Council about the new
Hilo Residency program and update us on how it's progressing. Administrators of the Bay
Clinic, meanwhile, will brief the Council on existing clinic operations in Pahoa, Naalehu,
Kea'au and Hilo, and shaze their challenges in providing medical treatment to about 16,000
patients per yeaz. These aze guaranteed to be very worthwhile and informative presentations.
