Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division has authorized a $15,000 Hawaii Anti-Trafficking Task Force Grant to
the Hawaii County Police Department. The grant will assist in the battle against the fastest
growing criminal activity of human trafficking, as the victims are used in labor exploitation,
such as pornography, domestic servitude and sweatshop factory work. The grant objectives
are to increase the number victims saved and increase prosecution of the traffickers.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of
Hawaii Department of the Attorney General for this grant.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
this $15,000 Hawaii Anti-Trafficking Task Force Grant.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawaii County Police
Department.
