Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division has authorized a $23,484 Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE)
Standby Pay Grant to the Hawaii County Police Department. The grant's goal is to
improve the department's ability to respond to violent sex crimes, physical abuse and
crimes of violence against women. The grant funds will be used to compensate the SAFE
nurses who are on standby status and waiting to conduct an examination on victims of
sexual assault, at any time of the day or week.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State
of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General for this grant.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
this $23,484 Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Standby Pay Grant.
