Subject: Reimer, 8/18/07 =veto override of Bills 112 and 156
[ ask that the following be submitted as written testimony on the veto override for affordable housing bills 122 and 156.
Aloha County Council Chairman and Council Members:
You have heazd the need, the logic, and common sense arguments for affordable housing. You know that any concerns
brought forth at this time can be addressed by amendments. Perhaps it is now time to consider the realistic side rather
than one driven by political favoritism.
This is legislation for the people, for those less fortunate than you who need some help in their lives. The Mayor talks the
talk on affordable housing but this is only political posturing and he has shown his true colors by vetoing even his own
legislation. It was as inappropriate for a developer to call him before his decision as it was for him to accept the call for
this gave the appearance of conflict of interest. Don't he a partner in that unfortunate incident.
You know in your heart it is right to overturn his vetos. Please help the brothers and sisters who need some assistance.
This is not about politics; this is about aloha for the Hawaiian `ohana, Island -wide.
Please vote to override the Mayor's vetos of affordable housing bills.
Mahalo nui loa,
M. Reimer
