ARAKAKI, CHAIR HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL ` i FROM: CURT TYLER & JOSEPH REYNOL . `1\~f~ COUNCIL MEMBERS N SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR REFERRAL Attached for your favorable review and consideration is a proposed bill amending Chapter 15, to rename the West Hawaii Veteran's Cemetery to "Pu'u Ho~omaha O Na Po'e Koa O Hawaii Komohana." The bill also provides for the abbreviated name of "Pu~u Ho'omaha". As you may recall, the Committee on Public Works & Parks discussed the name recommended via Communication No. 690, a letter from Keith Burley, Vice Commander of Dist. IV, American Legion. There has been some confusion on the proper spelling of the Cemetery and, after confirming the correct spelling with the UH of Hilo, Hawaiian Studies Program, we submit the attached bill to be numbered and referred to Council.
