Re: Capital Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance adding the Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment Plant
Master Plan for $500,000 to the Capital Budget. Due to the rapid development of the
Kona area, a Master Plan for upgrading of the Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment Plant is
required to ensure that a plan is in place for upgrading of the facility as flows to the facility
increase.
The Master Plan will integrate existing assets (headworks, lagoons, etc.) into the treatment
system where possible to minimize capital costs for upgrades and will develop strategies
for establishing an Effluent Reuse program in the area for disposal of plant effluent.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Department of Environmental
Management.
