Stahl and Mr. John R. Young to the County of Hawaii Veterans Advisory Committee. Mr. Stahl of Hilo is a six-yeaz resident of Hawaii. He is currently the Director of the Cazeer Center at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He is a member of Camp Tarawa Detachment #1255, Marine Corps League and the Big Island Retired Military Association (BIRMA). Mr. Stahl states that he is a Republican. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2012. Mr. Young of Puna was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1965 until his retirement in 1976. He presently volunteers with the Hawaii Island United Way. Mr. Young is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a teen to expire on December 31, 2011. Both nominees were not present due to prior commitments. Council Members had no objections to moving the matter forward and meeting the nominees at full Council. Pursuant to Section 13-4(b), Hawai`i County Charter, members of the Veterans Advisory Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation recommends the confirmation of Mr. Norman S. Stahl and Mr. John R.
