Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 287-07, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 287-07, transmitted by Council Member Emily Naeole, via Communication
No. 570, dated July 26, 2007, authorizes the Finance Director to enter into negotiations for the
acquisition of Honolulu Landing in the District of Puna, Hawaii, identified by Tax Map
Key:l-4-3:19 and 1-4-3:20.
The Commission's updated list to the Mayor on December 27, 2006, ranked Honolulu Landing
as the number five priority and assigned an 85% criteria score. Honolulu Landing is identified in
the 2005 Hawaii County General Plan as both an important site for protection and an aze that
should be developed for recreational use such as swimming, snorkeling, picnicking, camping and
fishing. It also contains significant cultural and historical sites.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 287-07,
and recommends its adoption.
