Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 297-07, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 297-07, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 146 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 593, dated July 31, 2007, authorizes the Office of the
Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General,
for a Hawaii Anti-Trafficking Task Force Grant Project for the County of Hawaii Police
Department.
Funds will be used to cover the cost related to implementing the project's goals of increasing the
identification of trafficking victims through proactive law enforcement training and response.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to famish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 297-07,
and recommends its adoption.
