SUBJECT: Men of PA'A
Aloha mai! I am writing to respectfully ask that representatives of the Men of
PA'A in Puna be given the opportunity to detail the program to council members at the
Nov. 6 Human Services and Economic Development Committee meeting in West
Hawaii.
The Men of PA'A is a support group led by Iopa Mauna Kea aka "Bruddah Kuz."
Men involved in the group strive to become productive members of society and serve
their community. They commit time for set-up and clean-up for community events.
They do yard work and maintenance, they chaperone and act as security, they carry a
message of hope up to Kulani prison, and they provide clean-and-sober living
arrangements for each other.
Among the community groups the Men of PA'A has partnered with are Solid
Rock Ministries, Mauna Kea Church, Thy Word Ministries, the Hawaiian Paradise Park
Community Association, the Hawaiian Beaches Action Team, Mainstreet Pahoa
Association, Pahoa Springtime Jam, Malama O Puna, American Cancer Society,
Kingdom of Hawaii, Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, and the Waianae Youth
Organic Farms.
Please allow ahalf--hour for this presentation detailing the Men of PA'A to
council members.
