Subject: Unfair and discriminatory proposals re: large stores !~'j
Importance: High
Hi. I live in the Hilo area. I think that it's despicable, and probably~in some way very
suspiciously self-serving, that anybody...
especially the Hawaii County Council who is supposed to serve the public... not just a
few business cronies... would consider ANY proposals that would in any way restrict anyone
from building large stores with discount supermarkets on the Big Island!! All of the
proposals are unfair, discriminatory and VERY UN-AMERICAN!!
Large stores such as Wal-Mart, Costco, etc. provide very affordable and very popular
alternatives to smaller stores that also don't offer much variety, and usually charge way
too much.
Again... restricting free competition in the supermarket business, or any other business
on the Big Island, or anywhere else, is totally UN-AMERICAN! Large stores with a much
wider variety of products and much better prices MUST be what the public wants, or they
wouldn't be so very popular! Anybody who doesn't want to support any large stores is free
to shop anywhere else that they want.
Note: If it's so wrong to have large discount stores like Wal-Mart, why does Higa shop
there so often? The ONLY times that I've EVER seen him in person is when he's been
shopping in Wal-Mart! Well, actually, I've never seen him shopping there. The women with
him were always doing the shopping while he was on his cell phone all the time... every
time I've seen him there.
Sincerely disappointed!
