Message: Aloha,
As a concerned resident/visitor of Hawaii I would like to ask you to help protect
Punalu'u Beach from development. I beleive the development proposed by Sea Mountain
Investments who seek to turn PUNALU'U BLACK SAND BEACH, (The only public beach in Ka'u
with easy access) into a resort for the wealthy is a bad idea. Punalu'u is one of the last
beaches in the state that has not become overshadowed by a huge towering hotel and resort
complex.
Because Punalu'u is an essential gathering place for local families, a nesting site for
the endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle, a habitat for the rare and endangered Hawaiian Monk
Seal, the Hawiian Hoary Bat and other endangered plant and animals AND home to a some of
the largest Hawaiian sacred sites and burial complexes in the state, it must be protected!
As a supporter of protecting Hawaiian Lands and the environment we are confident you will
do whatever you can to stop this dangerous development and help us protect Punalu'u
forever.
Thank you for your help and support.
Sincerely,
