Di ~M~J` RESOLUTION NO. 364 0'7 RESOLUTION CREATING A PARK CARETAKER I (3/5T) POSITION AND A PARK CARETAKER I (1/2T) POSITION FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION WHEREAS, the Civil Case Number 98-244, United Public Workers Union (UPW) versus the County of Hawaii, et al., relating to the privatization of janitorial and ground maintenance work, has been settled; and WHEREAS, the settlement calls for the County of Hawaii to hire UPW workers instead of contracting out forjanitorial and grounds maintenance services; and WHEREAS, in order to comply with the civil settlement, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like to create a Park Caretaker I (3/5T} position and a Park Caretaker I (1/2T) position for its Parks Maintenance Division; and WHEREAS, the Park Caretaker I (3/5T) position for the South Hilo district and the Park Caretaker I (1/2T) position for the Kona district, will be used to perform the custodial, janitorial, and ground maintenance work in and around County facilities; and WHEREAS, there should be sufficient funds in the Parks and Recreation, Parks Maintenance`s Regular Salaries and Wages account (010.500.5505.01.011); and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council...". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that a Park Caretaker I (3/5T), BC-02, position and a Park Caretaker I (1/2T), BC-02, positions be created in the Department of Parks and Recreation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there should be sufficient funds in the Department of Parks and Recreation, Parks Maintenance's Regular Salaries and Wages account (010.500.5505.01.011). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments of Finance, Human Resources, and Parks and Recreation. Dated at Kona ,Hawaii, this 17th day of October , 2007.
