A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S).
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and the Hawaii Police Department
believe it is in the best interest of both agencies to have a committed, or permanent community
violence coordinator; and
WHEREAS, a coordinator would ensure that all agencies, government and non-
government, that respond to domestic violence, create a strategic response to the problem; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council is committed to addressing the domestic
violence problem; and
WHEREAS, the Community Violence Coordinator will be part of a Domestic Violence
Interagency Team consisting of police, hospitals, the Judiciary, the Office of the Prosecuting
Attorney, nonprofit organizations, religious organizations, and community members to assist in
reducing the high domestic violence rate in Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to be used for the Community Violence Coordinator
position; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
