Aloha! It has come to my attention that Punahele Professional Building is secki n E pc+rl; ri ::iou
for a zoning change for property they own that is presently zoned residential 'l~lati ~J+-cr:~;s s
Imaging Center seeks to use said land for the purpose of expanded. parking. Cu~r~;;aly t•,atre s
inadequate parking available.
Given the fact that October is Breast Cancer Awareness' month - it is especi<rl ly auspicious
that I'm writing the Hawaii County Council on. the following subject matter.
That the Women's imaging Center is about to invest in nnillion-dollar imagin,; e~a;riomen,-.:;~llhrct
"1Jigital. Mammography" it will most likely create an even. more drastic need tc~ ~~:c:om lrc.xiatc;
parking. With this new equipment thousands of more women could be screen; cl `^s- brf i ,
cancer. As I understand, this type of equipment is fast & incredibly more effici °rst in dr te~~'t~rt!
eazly signs of breast cancer.
Currently, one must fly to )'Ionolulu to get screened for breast cancer with 101~~ do;a~:e
mammography equipment. Digital ma~umogaphy images can easily be prefonrlk:c usir.,;'.'I~e
computer. Myself, I've a MAJOR conceal with radiation exposure-in fact P~~e. n wer 1-rs:] a
mammography--due to my apprehension regarding radiation. I would consider ~f.l~ri.ng ,:lig*itl~,~l
mammogralxi with lower dosage exposure.
I'm usually not into "...pave paradise to put up a parking loi..." as the old J,nri r"itch ;P' sossl;
goes; however in this case I feel it's a punu use of the 'aina.
Lastly, I've been treated with excellent service by tine Women's Imaging Center ~r m~f:~,, .
many years... receiving prompt, excellent care (from when they were located on t4'aial s :~Frut:
Avenue) with personal warmth-aloha.
