Chaiman Hoffman & Council:
Thank you for the opportunity to testify in strong support of this resolution, which supports the long term viability of
the Kona Coffee Industry.
I have been an organic Kona coffee farmer for 29 years. I have watched ups and downs of the markets. I have
been close friends with two of the companies that formed and were the early promoters of 100% Kona. It was not
until the practice of selling 100% Kona began that the farmer got a halfway decent price for cherry. As you have
no doubt heard, most other geographic identities are protected. Those who wish to use the name, should pay the
price.
Please support this resolution. It will be the first step in giving our brand protection, and a true geographic
identity.
