Angel; cohmayor@co.hawaii.hi.us Subject: FY 2007-2008 Captial Budget Councilmember Pete Hoffmann, Chair Councilmember K. Angel Pilago, Vice Chair Hawaii County Council I have reviewed the Hawaii County Capital Budget for FY 2007- 2008 and note that none of the projects recommended by Parsons Brinckerhoff in the Waimea Traffic Circulation Study are included. Are they going to appear as county projects on some other list, like the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)? I understand that the following projects are needed within the next two to five years in order to prevent gridlock in Waimea during commuting times: Widening of Mamalahoa Hwy from in front of the hospital to one half mile east of Kamamalu St Widening of Mamalahoa Hwy in front of Waimea School All of the Parker Ranch Connector Road plus extensions of existing town center connector roads Road A between Kaomoloa Rd and Lindsey Rd extension Lalamilo connector road (Mamalahoa Hwy-Kawaihae Rd connector project) Waimea traffic signal optimization How are the people from Puna, Hilo and Hamakua going to get to work on the west side if we are at gridlock? Thank you for this opportunity to testify. Comm. No. w~~~ Ref. To:~ca W My name and address is : fief, :)ate i~iiAR 19 2001 _ 3/19/2007 Page 2 of Robert M.
