SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
BILL 198 (Waianuenue Avenue draft 2)
Attached for your appropriate action is a revised bill for the subject amendment.
The initial submittal did not delete item numbers 135 and 137 of schedule 28. These two items are included within
[he limits of the new no parking zone. A location map is attached.
Mrs. Phoebe Lambeth, Chief Operations Officer of the Hilo Medical Center, said [hat the new parking lot was
constructed for employee parking. Previously, many employees parked in the visitor parking lot directly across the
street from the hospital and took away parking for visitors. Effective April 1, 1998, they intend to strictly enforce
[he employee parking at the hospital to insure that both employees and visitors have ample parking. She is in favor
of prohibiting parking along Waianuenue Avenue, especially for [he safety of vehicles exiting from the driveways.
