Re: council vote on banning mega stores
We are against a ban. We welcome the mega stores and believe the market place will determine the need and
survival of such stores. Had this ban been in place, we'd have no Costco, no Wal-Mart, no Kmart, etc. We
islanders are forced to order over the Internet and pay costly shipping costs or go to Oahu. These mega stores
do voluminous research before committing to building in a region. The bottom line is that if the customers and the
demand are not there, they will not build. However, if the customers and the demand are there....you and the
council are preventing us from getting the merchandise we desire in our own neighborhood. Please vote
tomorrow to allow the mega stores.
