Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 640, reports as follows:
Communication No. 640, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated August 21, 2007, nominates
Mazilyn Nicholson of Council District 6 to the County of Hawaii Boazd of Ethics Commission.
Ms. Nicholson is a thirty-yeaz resident of Hawaii. She recently retired as the executive director
of the Volcano Art Center and is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Friends
of Hawaii Volcanoes National Pazk. Ms. Nicholson was formerly the president of the Cooper
Center Council, the treasurer of the Hawaii Museums Association, a board member of the
Hawaii Island Aloha Festivals, and a boazd member of the County of Hawai`i's Cost of
Government Commission.
Ms. Nicholson states that she is a registered Democrat. If confirmed, Ms. Nicholson will replace
Ms. Kendall Sharpless' vacancy, whose term will expire on December 31, 2009.
Your Committee of Finance recommends the confirmation of Marilyn Nicholson to the County
of Hawaii Boazd of Ethics Commission.
