FIBERGLASS All fiberglass components are 3/16" thick or greater. Each component has COMPOSITION a specific laminate and reinforcing schedule as developed, per structural and functional requirements. Mechanical fastening points are reinforced with locally increased laminate schedules. All fasteners use plate washers to reduce point loading. Blind fastening uses integrally bonded stainless steel tapping plates. FINISH All exterior fiberglass surfaces finished with the highest quality polyester gel- coat finish. All visually exposed backside surfaces of fiberglass panels are flow coated in white gel-coat. FIBERGLASS DECK: PARTS 112" balsa-core reinforcement encapsulated between 3116" top and bottom SCHEDULES laminates UNDERDECK: 1/4" laminate SHELTER: 3/16" laminate, 3/4" steel tube and 3/4" plywood pillar reinforcements. Coremat schedules as required. DOORS: 3/16" laminate, 1/2' steel tube bracing SHUTTERS: 3/16" laminate DECK The deck asasmbly consists of upper and lower parts of molded fiberglass bonded together completely around the perimeter of the underdeck. The top deck panel has a repairable non-skid surface. Standard height of deck surface above the sand is 6'0". The underdeck panel is designed as to form a box section under the top deck on four sides and to distribute point loads from the steel support structure more evenly into the fiberglass deck assembly. Stainless steel nut plates are bonded Into the underdeck part, providing attachment points for the steel support structure and ladder. The support structure incorporates skids designed for towing the completely SUPPORT assembled L.O.T. to and from designated beach sites. STRUCTURE These skids provide a footprint of 15'X 14' exclusive of the skid ramps. The support structure is diagonally-braced on all four sides. STRUCTURE COMPONENTS: fasteners 5/8" stainless steel nuts and bolts with lock washers Awl 6" X 4" X 5116" angle comer uprights 3" X 3" X 1/4" angle diagonals 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" X 3/16" angle cross members 3" X 3" X 1/4" angle All support structure components are hot dipped galvanized after fabrication and prior to any mechanical assembly. SHELTER ¦ The shatter provides protection from sun, wind and inclement weather ¦ Maximum forward visibility throughout a 180 degree field for an observer ¦ Entry-egress to the shatter via two doors; one on the right of the forward-facing shatter, and one on the left ¦ Adequate ventilation and interior air flow when both shelter doors are closed ¦ Resistance to vandalism is provided by one-piece fiberglass shutters ¦ Shelter footprint 6' X a' ¦ Height of roof 8' 0" ¦ Minimum height under open shutters 7' 0" ¦ Location on deck from front edge 4'0" WINDOWS Windows are located on the front of the shelter and on the left and right sides ahead of the doors. Fiberglass comer structures are reduced to a minimum in order to provide maximum visibility and reinforced with 3/4" round steel tubing. Vertical dimensions for the window openings are 41" at the bottom and 80' at the top. Windows are of 1/4" tempered glass, tinted grey, set with a rubber "H" seal. All three windows slope out from the bottom approximately 15 degrees to reflect heat and reduce glare. The shelter design provides the option (at additional cost) for a rearward viewing window. DOORS Doors are 25" wide by 83" high with with an actual passage opening of 22" wide by 79" high. Windows are included in both doors. Door hardware consists of stainless steel hinges and stainless steel latches. SHUTTERS All sides with windows have 3/16" fiberglass solid shutters designed and rein- forced to resist vandalism. Shutter hardware includes electropolished stainless steel continuous hinges and locking devices of stainless steel. ¦ Doors and shutters use hardware designed so that the shelter may be secured with one exterior keyed lock. ¦ The operation of the doors and shutters are designed so as to require one person at a time, a period of two (2) minutes or less, to open or to secure the station. SHELF Interior of cabin is equipped with a starboard shelf 14" deep, to accommodate telephone, binoculars, and other equipment. STORAGE Interior of cabin has two lockable storage cabinets. Cabinets are molded CABINETS fiberglass with stainless steel hinges and locking device on the doors. Cabinet doors are hot-coated Marine plywood. Deck railing is 41" high completely around the platform except at the ladder opening. Rear railing sections are 39" high to provide clearance for the shutters. RAILINGS Railings are fabricated of three equally spaced 1-1/4" O.D. 065 wall stainless steel tubes. Brackets are stainless flat stock with a minimum thickness of 1/8". LADDER The ladder has 31" wide rails with a 30 degree inclination from vertical and located centrally at the front of the deck. Ladder steps are 24" wide and have a non-slip pattern and are spaced approximately every 12" vertically. Ladder construction is of 1-1/4" O.D., .065 min. wall (stainless steel) tube. Brackets are 1/8" min. thickness, stainless steel plate. Ladder steps are fabricated from stainless diamond plate. Railings and ladder are electropolished for maximum corrosion resistance. FASTENERS All fasteners are stainless steel, including rivets, washers and nylon locking nuts. COLORS Optional "within color card stock." ASSEMBLY ON-SITE Truck access with 12' width should be available, assembly site should be paved. SPECIAL FEATURES ¦ Exterior bench seat is provided for the lifeguard on the front of the shelter. (included) ' 2o~th hrrou exhaust. with approximately 4 1/2 sq. ft. intake ¦ Major assemblies are jig bonded (in molds to ensure maximum structural integrity) ¦ Shelter is fabricated as a uni-body structure, providing maximum strength and durability.
